Introduction

It is with great sadness that I am writing about the tragic death of Bajirao, The Dominant Male Tiger of Bor Tiger Reserve in the State of Maharashtra.

He was run over by a speeding vehicle near Nagpur on a Highway not far from a Forest Range that is connected to Bor Tiger Reserve.

He was the Father of at least 22 Tiger Cubs and in some way Tiger Lovers can be consoled that He left a large legacy in Bor Tiger Reserve.

However, The Fact remains that He was killed by a reckless driver on an Inter State Highway.

Will this person be ever held responsible for his tragic death ??

Will India of the 21st Century stand up and be counted vis a vis His Death ??

There have been innumerable cases in the State of Maharashtra over the last 10 years of Endangered Tigers being killed either by reckless drivers on Inter - State Highways near Protected Forests or of them being electrocuted by Electrified Fences on Farms near Nagpur.

In 2017, Numerous Tigers were killed in Maharashtra State by Electrified Fences on Farms.

This has to stop immediately.

Underpasses should be built for Tigers near Highways that cut across Protected Forests.

Last, but not the least Poaching for Tiger Parts is decimating Tiger Populations all across India but specially in the States of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

What exactly is being done about this -- Heaven Knows ??

In my Humble Opinion, Drones should be equipped to keep a watch on Tigers and their families where poachers are active.
