Wild Bengal Tigers in the North West Indian State Of Gujarat

 In The Hilly Areas of Gujarat's Ratanmahal Wildlife Sanctuary something stirred in that Forest Area in February 2025. 

A Sub- Adult Male Wild Bengal Tiger stepped carefully onto the Sanctuary's Soil marking the first confirmed Tiger Sighting in Gujarat since 1982. 

In May 2025, Camera Traps captured Real Time Photos of a Tiger's Movements through the Sanctuary's core as it made its first kill displaying the intention to stay for quite some time. 

If a Female Wild Bengal Tigress joins this Sub -Adult Male Tiger this Breeding Pair could in all probability establish a viable population of Bengal Tigers in Gujarat which would be a milestone in this state being the only state in India to host 3 Big Cat Predators namely Wild Asiatic Lions, Wild Spotted Leopards, and now Wild Bengal Tigers. 

Of utmost importance in Gujarat as far as Wild Bengal Tigers are concerned is the need to increase Prey Populations specifically in Ratanmahal Wildlife Sanctuary. 

Gujarat Forest Department needs to increase patrolling at Ratanmahal Wildlife Sanctuary so that Tiger Poachers are kept at bay. 

Chandrapur District Has The Highest Tiger Density In The World

 Chandrapur District in Eastern Maharashtra in Western India is Home to the Highest Tiger Density In The World. 

The Forest Areas of Chandrapur District are currently home to 250 Wild Bengal Tigers and Tiger Cubs. 

This Number is expected to swell to at least 400 by Mid 2026. 

The Forest Areas of Chandrapur District are blessed with High Prey Density in the form of numerous Herds of various kinds of Deer and Antelope and Wild Bison. 

Achanakamar Tiger Reserve The New Tiger Hotspot in Chhattisgarh

 Chhattisgarh situated in Central India has been making the news for the last several years because of Low Tiger Density in its Tiger Reserves and Wildlife Sanctuaries. 

Achanakamar Tiger Reserve situated in Chhattisgarh had Low Tiger Density for several years and was given up as lost by Wildlife Conservation Authorities. 

In 2022, it was observed that Achanakamar Tiger Reserve was home to only 5 Wild Bengal Tigers. 

Enter Jhumri, The Wild Bengal Tigress relocated from Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve to Achanakamar Tiger Reserve. 

In 2024, Achanakamar Tiger Reserve was home to 10 Wild Bengal Tigers and in 2025 it was home to 18 Wild Bengal Tigers. 

The Increase in Tiger Population in Achanakamar Tiger Reserve took place only because of Multiple Litters from Jhumri - The Relocated Wild Bengal Tigress. 

Besides, Jhumri there are two other Breeding Wild Bengal Tigresses at Achanakamar Tiger Reserve namely TK-16 and TK-17 respectively. 

Things are really looking up for Achanakamar Tiger Reserve with a Major Boost in its Tiger Population expected in 2026 and 2027.
